It forms the basis of the world we live in today. From education to politics, Orientalism is the cause behind colonization, the idea of white identify and subsequent white supremacy. It also forms the basis for how our beliefs and prejudices develop, and specifically, how we generalize and view the world as a conflict between 2 opposing civilizations: East and West.
